HobbiesTravelling and GymmingControversies• Vijay Duniya appeared in the hit Kannada films "Chanda" and "Yuga" in 2007. Reportedly, the director of "Chanda," S Narayan, had promised Vijay to release "Chanda" six weeks after "Yuga." However, the director decided to release the film earlier, which angered Vijay, and he refused to dub for the "Chanda." The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) took the matters in their own hand and imposed a year-long ban on the actor. This band was later lifted up by the Karnataka Film Federation.
• Vijay filed for a divorce from his wife Nagarathna in 2013, claiming that his wife had been misbehaving with his mother for years. In reply to his claim, Nagarathna alleged that Vijay had been in an extramarital affair with the actress Shubha Punja. Shubha, who found her name being tainted because of the ugly spat between the husband and wife, said that she did not had anything to do with the case.
• In 2016, during the shooting of an action sequence for the film "Maasthi Gudi," two actors- Raghav Uday and Anil Verma drowned in a lake. A case was registered against the filmmakers including the producer Sundar P Gowda, who had failed to appear during the trials of the case and fleed. Vijay was arrested for helping the accused Gowda to flee; as Gowda was staying in Vijay's house.

• In September 2018, Vijay was arrested in the case relating to assault and kidnap of Maruti Gowda, a gym trainer and the nephew of Pani Puri Kitty. Earlier, Duniya had filed a complaint against Gowda of threatening his son.

• In October 2018, Vijay's daughter, Monika, filed a case against him, his second wife Keerthy Gowda, driver Mohammad, Hemanth, and Vinod; accusing them of abusing and assaulting her. Reportedly, Monica and her mother had gone to her father's house to take their belongings, where the five assaulted her. She also claimed that they banged her head against the wall and threatened her.

• In October 2018, Nagarathna assaulted Vijay's second wife Keerthy at their home. After Nagarathna had assaulted her up, she went to lodge a fake complaint against Vijay; alleging of assaulting her. The police went to arrest Nagarathna after the CCTV footage of Vijay's house cleared that it was Keerthy, who had been assaulted.
