Beyoncé returned to Houston, her hometown, recently, with her daughter Blue Ivy to offer support for those affected by the damage done by Hurricane Harvey. The mother and daughter helped out at a feeding station by handing out meals of rice and beans to people in need. The pair spent all day at the station, which resulted in them serving 400 meals to survivors.

The Single Ladies hitmaker was also joined by former Destiny’s Child bandmate Michelle Williams. As well as giving out food, they handed out supplies such as diapers and toiletries.

On Friday, Beyoncé and her mother visited St. John’s Church in Houston to speak to a group of Hurricane Harvey survivors where she said the following:

“This church is my home. I was maybe nine or ten years old the first time I sat there where my daughter is sitting. I sang my first solo here and I just wanna thank you for lifting my family up, for praying for me, and for being such an incredible example of what light and love is.”

She went on to say, “Houston is my home. I thank God that you’re safe, your children are safe… I just wanna say I love you. I’ve been blessed so that I can bless other people and I ask of God to continue to do that for other people.”

On Tuesday, Beyoncé is set to take part in an hour long telethon to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. It shall be broadcast on all four U.S networks and will also feature stars Oprah Winfrey, Blake Shelton and Barbra Streisand. Appearances from Kelly Rowland, Jamie Foxx, Reese Witherspoon, George Clooney, Matthew McConaughey and more will be made too.
